FAQs

Common Questions

Everything patients most often ask, answered up front.

How do I book an appointment?

Book online through our booking page, which shows live availability 24 hours a day. You can also send us an enquiry or call the clinic and we will arrange a time with you.

How long are appointments?

Standard appointments are 20 minutes. Specialist appointments — health screening, fertility and menopause — are one hour, giving us time to assess you properly and agree a plan.

Can you provide the same services as my NHS GP?

Yes. We can provide any service an NHS GP can offer. The difference is how quickly you are seen and how much unhurried time you get with your clinician.

Do you accept private health insurance?

You pay the clinic directly for your appointment and then claim the cost back from your insurer yourself. We do not invoice insurers on your behalf. We will give you a receipt with everything your insurer needs.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring photo identification, a list of your current medications and doses, and a patient summary from your GP or downloaded from the NHS App. Any recent test results or letters are helpful too.

Do you offer home visits?

Yes. Home visits can be arranged at mutually feasible times. Please send us an enquiry or call the clinic to discuss.

What We Do Not Offer

So that you do not book an appointment expecting something we cannot provide, please note that we do not offer the following:

  • ADHD medication — including initiation, private prescriptions and shared-care arrangements
  • Benzodiazepines such as diazepam, and other sedative or hypnotic medication
  • Opioid painkillers and other controlled drugs
  • Repeat prescriptions for medication started elsewhere without a full review
  • Emergency or urgent care — please call 111, or 999 in an emergency
  • Sick notes or medical reports where we have not clinically assessed you

Full disclaimers and our complete list of frequently asked questions are published on the ThanksDoc website.
